After over 4 months of changes in schedules, routines, and daily life, it is becoming clear that things are not going back anytime soon. While it can be okay to manage this change for a couple of months, the only way we can move forward mentally and emotionally is if we come to some sort of acceptance and adaptation to the way things are now.

I know this is not easy. I see this all the time in my work with chronic pain patients. These patients have suffered a work injury. Their entire lives turned upside down. All of a sudden, they lose their ability to work, financial security, pleasurable activities, life as they know it… Are you beginning to see a resemblance here?

During our work together they learn new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The ones that find themselves happier and able to gracefully navigate their new worlds are the ones willing to accept what has happened and move forward.

You may be saying but Leah, I haven’t been injured at work, I’m not dealing with chronic pain. Yes, I know that. But we have all experienced something that has changed our lives overnight. There is no end in sight which means there is a tremendous amount of uncertainty.

We don’t do well with uncertainty. It is against our nature. We want to know things, to prepare for things. The best way to do this is to let go of what we “think” things should be and ease into the reality. We must adapt. It is the only way to move forward in alignment (that means not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well).

To help you find greater ease and flow in life right now, I have created a short Acceptance Meditation. I hope it brings some peace and ease to you during this time.

I know you are creative and I’d love to hear ways that you are adaptingReply to this email and let me know. As always, please forward this to anyone that it might help. And again, here is the link to the Acceptance Meditation.

Big love,
Leah
