5 WAYS TO IGNITE YOUR VDAY DURING COVID

Well, here we are, almost at Valentine’s Day and our world looks a little different than past years. No live music this year to go and get down with your girlfriends and fancy restaurants, well… let’s just say who wants to deal with that hassle even if they are open! 

Whether you are celebrating single this year or married with kids, you likely need a little inspiration to get you in the mood. 😉 

To tell you the truth, I don’t usually celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Aaron (my husband) and I met on February 16, 2003 in Las Vegas at Phish so we typically choose that day to honor our love, usually at an ALO concert during their annual Tour d’Amour. 

Regardless of the commercial hype of Valentine’s Day, which I don’t buy into (instead going for homemade cards and experiences), I do love the idea of a special day to celebrate love. It may sound cliche but love is the highest emotion and when we can connect to it, our bodies respond as if they are vibrating on the highest frequency. That’s good medicine for all our cells!

But, it doesn’t have to be romantic love. In fact, 

So, whether you are single or just stuck at home with the same partner for the last 307 days, (but who’s counting, right?!) these 5 tips will have you feeling the love!

  • Plan Ahead – I am usually miserable at this when it comes to special occasions. But, prior planning can help set you up for success! If you know that seeing pictures of happy couples is going to depress you, make sure you stay off social media for the day. Delete it from your phone the night before! You can always add it back on 2/15. In addition, make sure to have a plan to follow the steps below!
  • Treat Yourself – Schedule you into the day. (Even if you have a partner.) What makes you feel sexy and inspired? A steamy novel, a relaxing bath, sexy clothes… You do not have to do or wear these things for another. Do it for yourself and love it up!
  • Follow the Pleasure – Make a choice to follow the pleasure on this day. Wear clothes that you love. Eat only foods that are decadent and tantalizing or that really nourish you. Ask yourself the question, “Does this turn me on?” throughout the day. If yes, do it! If not, pass on it for today. It’s Sunday, it can wait until tomorrow. 😉 
  • Make it a Date – If you were taking yourself out for your dream date, what would you want? A show and steamy sex after? Great, put on a video of your favorite show and your favorite show clothes and see where it goes. A romantic dinner with candles? Break out the fancy dishes, light those candles, pour a nice glass of wine, and order your favorite fancy restaurant for take-out (plan ahead if necessary). You get the point…
  • Ignore the Gremlins – Be prepared for thoughts or emotions that want to pull you down to show up. They will be there. But, with proper planning and expectations, you got this! Remember your commitment to pleasure. Realign yourself to any other intentions you set for the day (ex: to be happy, to love yourself, to do something different, etc.). Have a friend ready to call and connect with if needed as your lifeline to happy. Watch a movie that makes you feel good. I love Almost Famous for times like this because it gives me all the feels and I love it so much!

Above all, remember it is just another day. If you choose to connect with love, pleasure, bliss, and happiness you might just find it to be a fantastic day. <3
